2.1 The motion was agreed.

3       Pupil absence - findings from the engagement with parents and  young people

3.1 Members discussed the findings from in engagement report. They agreed that it should be shared with the Minister for Education and Welsh Language and the Deputy Minister for Health and Wellbeing.

4       Pupil absence - evidence session 7

4.1 The Committee heard evidence from the Minister for Education and Welsh Language.

4.2 The Minister agreed to provide information on whether school absence data and intelligence on school absence is utilised as an early marker for mental illness amongst young people.

4.2 When available, the Minister agreed to share with the Committee the evaluation of the funding that was made available in 2021-22 for local authorities to provide additional emotional, mental health and well-being support to young people.

4.3 The Minister agreed to attend a future Committee meeting to discuss the support provided for young carers in school.
